$\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb{Z})$.

This talk offers a journey from the classical foundations of Diophantine

approximation to recent developments in toral dynamics.

We will first survey the literature on Diophantine approximation, starting

from the classical one-dimensional setting and then moving on to its

higher-dimensional generalizations.

In the second part, we will present recent results on the properties of

matrix transformations of the torus. We will treat the general case first,

before turning to the particular case of the action of the special linear

group $\mathrm{SL}(n,\mathbb{Z})$.
