I will explain some work with Fillip and Lowe regarding finiteness of totally geodesic hypersurfaces in (most) negatively curved manifolds as well as some work with Bader-Miller-Stover that motivates it and some recent work with Elliott Smith that lays the groundwork for generalizing it.
