From prime numbers to damped waves, and beyond

I will discuss Tauberian theorems for $L^p$ functions with optimal $L^p$ convergence rates, and explain how they yield new energy-decay properties for damped wave equations. Related developments will also be discussed. Joint work with C. Batty (Oxford), A. Borichev (Marseille), and R. Chill (Dresden).
